Joy in sorrow

People come into our lives for various reasons. Some to care for us, some to encourage us and some to advice us.

But God gave me a unique experience of knowing somebody, who was just there to love me. That was Mr. Arthur Samuel - whom I called Samuel thatha.

Every Sunday morning, the first thing he would tell me was that he was praying for me, and that my name was at the top of his prayer list. And the second would be a question - did you have coffee?

Thatha also always had something to appreciate in the music played during the Service. He was a big fan of the children's Choir - always encouraging us and giving us new songs to sing. He genuinely loved every single note sung - in tune or out of tune.

This is my testimony today. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. And along with that greatest gift of love, God gives us little gifts to cherish as well.

I thank God for this Thatha who came into my life - as a gift from God - the gift of just being loved.
